The Federal Government has announced a major breakthrough in the fight against high living costs, claiming that food prices have dropped by 50% across the country.
Speaking in Abuja on Friday, March 6, 2026, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Aliyu Abdullahi, revealed that government interventions are finally making nutritious meals more affordable for Nigerians.
To ensure long-term food security, Nigeria now needs to produce 25 million tonnes of maize every year to keep up with national demand.
The Minister stated that prices for major commodities have been slashed in half thanks to new efforts to support local farmers and reduce production costs.
The government is focusing heavily on rice, maize, and wheat to create jobs and make the country self-sufficient.
The goal of the Renewed Hope Agenda is for Nigeria to stop relying on food imports and grow everything it needs at home.
