Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has called for the immediate prosecution of armed thugs who attacked his convoy in Rivers State.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 6, 2026, while Amaechi was traveling to his hometown, Ubima, to officially register as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Armed men blocked the road and opened fire on Amaechi’s convoy. His security team successfully fought off the attackers, forcing them to flee.

Before the attack, thugs set fire to the ADC ward office in Ubima and tried to prevent party members from entering the community.

Amaechi praised security agencies for their quick response but warned that if the government fails to protect people, citizens may be forced to defend themselves.

Despite the violence, Amaechi urged his supporters to remain peaceful and focused, stating that the ADC’s ultimate goal is to win the Aso Rock presidency in 2027.
