A devastating boat accident occurred along the Nigerdock axis of the Igbologun Water Channel in Lagos on Tuesday night, leaving six passengers dead and four others rescued.
The incident involved a Savvy Marine passenger boat en route from Ilashe Beach House when it collided with a submerged object at approximately 8:35 p.m.
The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) and National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) responded promptly, activating search and rescue teams with the Marine Police and other first responders.
Four passengers were rescued and hospitalized, while six bodies were recovered at the scene. Search operations continue to account for all persons involved.
Preliminary investigations suggest a collision with a submerged object may have caused the accident, but authorities are conducting further probes.
