In a significant show of solidarity, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) on Wednesday.
Accompanied by the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Hajiya Zubaida Umar, the Vice President spent time at the bedsides of those injured in the recent bomb blasts.
During his address to the press, Shettima expressed deep sorrow for the Borno State Government and the families who lost loved ones, offering prayers for the quick recovery of the wounded and the peaceful repose of the deceased.
The Vice President was firm in his condemnation of terrorism, stating clearly that no religion or belief system justifies the killing of innocent people.
He emphasized that these violent acts are a tragedy for the entire North-East region and the country at large.
Beyond words of comfort, Shettima announced that medical supplies and essential relief materials would be distributed immediately through the collaboration of NEMA and other support agencies.
This visit highlights a commitment to peace and a promise that the federal government will not abandon those affected by these senseless acts of violence.
