In a bold move to ensure government transparency, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has officially invited Nigeria’s leading anti-corruption agencies to investigate his ministry.
During a press conference at the Abuja headquarters, the Minister challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to scrutinize all ongoing road projects and contracts.
This open invitation is part of a strategy to prove that the Ministry of Works is operating with total integrity and following all procurement rules set by the federal government.
Minister Umahi emphasized that the ministry is fully cooperative, noting that the ICPC preliminary report is already in progress while they await the EFCC findings.
He reassured the public that every file and piece of information is available for review, stating that there is no room for secrets when dealing with the people's resources.
By welcoming these anti-graft agencies, the Minister aims to set a new standard for public accountability, ensuring that every naira spent on national infrastructure can be defended under the strictest legal scrutiny.
