The fallen heroes include Major John A. Klinner, Captain Ariana G. Savino, Tech. Sergeant Ashley B.Pruitt, Captain Seth R. Koval, Captain Curtis J. Angst, and Tech. Sergeant Tyler H. Simmons.
According to U.S. Central Command, the crash involved a KC-135 Stratotanker, a specialized aircraft used by the Air Force to provide fuel to other planes during flight.
Officials confirmed that the accident occurred during an interaction with another aircraft, which was able to land safely.
Crucially, the military stated that the crash was not caused by enemy fire. Three of the members were part of the Sixth Air Refueling Wing based at MacDill Air Force Base, while the others served with the 121st Air Refueling Wing in Ohio.
The loss of these individuals has brought the total American service member deaths to 13 as the regional conflict continues.
Families have begun sharing stories of their loved ones, including Major Klinner, a father of three who was nearly finished with his military service before the tragedy struck.
