During a significant gathering at his Lagos residence for the Eid el-Fitr celebrations, President Bola Tinubu sent a clear message to the nation: the battle against national insecurity is the most critical challenge currently facing his administration.

Addressing Vice President Kashim Shettima and a delegation of 23 state governors, the President revealed that his recent state visit to the United Kingdom was focused on securing modern security interventions and high-tech equipment to protect Nigerian citizens.

The President highlighted his strategic discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, confirming that international collaboration is now a key part of Nigeria’s defense plan.

Tinubu described insecurity as an enemy of development, noting that progress and prosperity cannot exist where crime thrives.

Beyond military hardware, the President expressed concern over the Middle East crisis, warning that global instability could lead to rising inflation and impact the purchasing power of the average Nigerian.

He urged the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to remain resilient, implementing policies that act as a cushion for the vulnerable against high energy and transportation costs.
