Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has officially accepted his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico

In a statement released on Friday, March 6, 2026, Omokri thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity, describing the President as a leader with a remarkable capacity for forgiveness.

The appointment is part of a major shake-up where President Tinubu approved 65 new ambassadors, including former minister Femi Fani-Kayode, who was posted to Germany.

Omokri praised the President’s character, stating that Tinubu is "most Christlike" for his ability to overlook past differences and give people the chance to serve.

Omokri promised "unalloyed loyalty" to both the Nigerian Constitution and President Tinubu, vowing to market Nigeria to the world.

He credited the current administration for Nigeria’s economic rise, noting that the World Bank and IMF ranked Nigeria as a top contributor to global GDP in 2025.
