President Bola Tinubu held his first official meeting with the newly appointed Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the State House in Abuja.
The discussion focused on the government’s plan to fix Nigeria’s economy by improving how taxes are collected and managed.
This was Oyedele’s first formal talk with the President since joining the cabinet.
Before this role, Oyedele led the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, where he helped write Nigeria’s new tax laws.
They discussed ways to find more government revenue without hurting the poor, mainly by bringing more people into the tax system.
The goal is to make sure the government spends money wisely and builds a stable economy for all Nigerians.
