The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled May 18, 2026, for the start of the trial against Innocent Chukwuma.
He is accused of using social media to encourage the military to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik moved the date to give the new government lawyer time to study the evidence.
Chukwuma, who uses the handle "@TheAgroman" on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), allegedly posted that Nigeria needs a military coup to "dispose of the APC."
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) tracked him down and arrested him in the Oyigbo area of Port Harcourt.
The government claims his posts were dangerous because they could encourage soldiers to turn against the elected government.
The case was paused because the new prosecutor, David Kaswe, just received the file from the DSS and needs to prepare for the trial.
