On Tuesday, March 17, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will depart Abuja for a high-profile State Visit to the UK.
As special guests of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the Nigerian leaders will be hosted at the prestigious Windsor Castle.
This event is particularly significant as it is the first time in 37 years that a Nigerian leader has received such an invitation, and the very first time one will stay at the historic castle.
The trip is designed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations, with a focus on solving mutual challenges and expanding economic opportunities.
During the visit, the President will participate in several high-level meetings, including a crucial sit-down with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.
A major highlight of the trip will be the signing of a massive £746 million financing deal aimed at the refurbishment of ports in Nigeria, specifically the Apapa and Tin Can Island complexes.
This investment is expected to modernize maritime infrastructure and boost international trade.
The President’s entourage includes top officials like Senate President Godswill Akpabio, ensuring that discussions on finance, defense, and digital economy are handled by the highest authorities.
