A significant security incident involving police misconduct has rocked the busy streets of Anambra.

Six members of the Nigeria Police Force are currently in custody after they were caught on camera allegedly demanding ₦500,000 from a motorist, eventually settling for ₦200,000.

The viral video showed the victim's bus being stopped under a flyover, where officers ignored his legal documents and insisted on a payoff.

This subtle clarification of the events by the victim's family helped the authorities identify the officers involved in this blatant act of fraud.

To maintain national security and public trust, the state command has issued queries to senior officers and taken statements from the ranks involved.

The Anambra State command is treating the matter with extreme seriousness, emphasizing that the misuse of power will not be tolerated.

Residents of the area have long complained about frequent harassment by vigilant troops and police patrols, and this arrest is seen as a vital step toward reform.

The authorities have promised to keep the public updated on the official statement regarding the final punishment for the officers once the trial is concluded.
