In a significant move to tackle the rising cost of living, Governor Seyi Makinde has officially approved a ₦10,000 salary increment for all public sector employees in Oyo State

This financial intervention, announced during a high-profile event in Ibadan, is specifically designed to act as a petrol and transportation support fund.

The governor emphasized that this "flat rate" top-up is a direct response to the recent fuel price hike that has strained the monthly budgets of thousands of households across the state.

The payment scheme is scheduled to commence in April 2026 and will initially run for a three-month period

However, the administration has left the door open for a potential extension if the current economic challenges persist.

Unlike typical graded raises, this emergency relief applies to every category of worker within the state and local government structure.

By providing this monthly stipend, the government aims to ensure that the workforce can remain productive despite the skyrocketing costs of commuting to their duty posts.
