Tragedy has struck the Tongov community in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, following the abduction and brutal murder of a traditional ruler, Zaki Sughter Agamber

The monarch, who served as the Kindred Head of Mbajiir, was taken from his home on March 6, 2026, in an attack that has left local residents in a state of shock and mourning.

Armed men stormed the monarch's residence in Kam Village and forcibly took him away in front of his grieving family.

After a frantic search, the ruler’s lifeless body was found the following day in a nearby bush.

The Benue State House of Assembly has officially condemned the act, calling it "barbaric" and a direct attack on the safety of traditional leaders.

Lawmakers have ordered the Nigeria Police, DSS, and Civil Defence to immediately track down the killers, though no group has claimed responsibility yet.
