The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared itself the only legal body authorized to present candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Following a major ruling at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on March 9, 2026, the group’s leadership stated that the law is now firmly on their side.
Faction chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed explained that recent court judgments in nine different appeals have confirmed his team as the "only legitimate" leaders.
The group is moving full steam ahead with organizing Ward and Local Government Congresses, which are the building blocks for choosing election candidates.
The team recently inspected the National Stadium in Abuja, preparing to host the party’s big national meeting to finalize their leadership.
While they are celebrating their win, they are preparing to defend their position at the Supreme Court if the opposing side appeals.
