A series of explosive blasts rocked the city of Maiduguri on Monday evening, sending shockwaves through the Borno State capital.

Between 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., loud sounds were heard in high-traffic areas, including the Monday Market, Kaleri, and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

The sudden noise caused a security incident that forced many residents to abandon their businesses and flee for safety.

While the cause of the noise remains under investigation, the atmosphere in the city remains tense as people await an official statement from local authorities.

Amidst this local panic, the Nigerian military has reported a significant victory elsewhere in the state.

In a separate coordinated assault, troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully defended the Azir Bridge and the town of Banki from a massive wave of insurgents.

These terrorist attacks occurred over the weekend but were met with "stiff resistance" by the Joint Task Force.

By utilizing close air support and heavy ground fire, the soldiers were able to disrupt the enemy's formation and prevent them from overrunning these vital military positions.
