Following the horrific deadly explosions in Maiduguri, political leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has called for a total overhaul of the current approach to fighting insurgents.

He remarked that the multiple explosions—which targeted busy locations like markets and hospitals—represent a "senseless" turn in the conflict that cannot be tolerated.

Kwankwaso pointed out that these insurgency-related incidents are a blow to the Maiduguri metropolis, which had been enjoying a period of relative calm.

In his reaction, the former minister appealed for a surge in support for security operatives on the front lines.

He stressed that coordinated suicide bombings are a cowardly tactic designed to create panic, and the only response must be a relentless pursuit of those responsible.

Kwankwaso’s call for a "decisive defeat" of these groups mirrors the concerns of many Nigerians who are worried about the recent resurgence of violence

He concluded by commiserating with the families of the victims and the Borno State government, urging for a unified front against the perpetrators of these heinous acts.
