The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially fired back at its former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, blaming him for the wave of legal battles and member departures currently rocking the party.

National Secretary Ogini Olaposi issued a statement in Lagos dismissing claims from a Kwankwaso-led faction that President Bola Tinubu and the APC are sponsoring the party’s court cases.

Olaposi described these accusations as "lazy and empty blackmail," designed to distract from the internal struggle for control.

According to the NNPP National Secretary, the real issue stems from an attempt to "hijack" the party structure by individuals who have already been expelled.

He noted that these ongoing litigations have caused many members to leave, but the party is now focused on its 2027 general elections strategy.

To facilitate this, the NNPP has launched an e-registration of members in line with INEC guidelines, offering automatic tickets to loyal members at the upcoming national convention to ensure the party remains a strong contender in the next political cycle.
