The Federal Government has officially stopped all Christian pilgrimage trips to Israel due to the growing conflict in the Middle East.
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) announced the decision on Tuesday, stating that the safety of citizens is currently the highest priority.
The news came just as 500 pilgrims safely returned to Lagos. In total, over 4,000 Nigerians successfully visited the Holy Land during the 2025 season before the situation worsened.
Israel has declared a state of emergency and restricted public gatherings. Because of these military developments, the government decided it is too dangerous for new groups to travel.
This suspension applies to both the government’s official trips and those organized by private travel companies. It will remain in place until the region is stable again.
The head of the commission, Stephen Adegbite, urged Nigerians to avoid any protests that could cause tension and asked for prayers for peace in Jerusalem and the Middle East.
