Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has stepped forward to squash rumors that the club owes star striker Victor Osimhen several months of salary.
The 76-year-old leader called the reports "an insult" and insisted that every player is being paid on time and in full.
Reports in Turkey claimed that Osimhen and other players hadn't been paid for up to three months. This gained traction after fans noticed Osimhen wasn't celebrating his recent goals very enthusiastically.
The Nigerian striker explained his "quiet" celebrations were out of respect for his former Napoli coach, Luciano Spalletti, whose Juventus team he recently scored against in the Champions League.
Özbek argued that world-class players wouldn't step on the pitch if they weren't being paid. He stated that "not a single lira" is overdue and that all bonuses are being processed as agreed.
Despite the off-field noise, the team is thriving. They lead the Turkish league by four points and have a massive Champions League Round of 16 clash with Liverpool coming up on March 10.
