The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially declared its intention to challenge a recent decision by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
This comes after the global football body dismissed a petition filed by Nigeria regarding the DR Congo national football team.
The Super Eagles initially raised concerns following their 4-3 penalty shootout loss in last November’s 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off, specifically questioning the legitimacy of documents and alleged passport irregularities of several Congolese players.
NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi confirmed on Tuesday that the federation is "not satisfied" with the verdict and has already initiated the process of appealing.
While the legal battle continues, the Congolese side is still preparing for the expanded tournament slots.
They are scheduled to travel to Guadalajara and Monterrey in Mexico this March to face either Jamaica or New Caledonia.
Despite the ongoing dispute, FIFA’s current stance allows DR Congo to proceed with their World Cup hopes, though the final outcome of Nigeria's appeal could still impact the road to the finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
