The National Executive Council of the Labour Party has officially dissolved the Esther Nenadi Usman-led committee following a critical internal review

During a virtual meeting held on March 17, 2026, party leaders decided that the group's actions were no longer beneficial to their growth.

This decision was formally confirmed by Abdulrahim Imam Chindo, who noted that state chairmen and secretaries believe the committee’s operations have caused harm to the party’s structures.

In a show of solidarity, the council reaffirmed its total support for the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.

By confirming Abure as the recognized national chairman, the party aims to move past the legal issues that have caused recent distractions.

The NEC has also instructed its leadership to continue with a high-profile appeal at the Court of Appeal to overturn a January 2026 Federal High Court ruling.

Furthermore, all previous notices sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the dissolved committee have been declared null and void.
