In a move to calm public fears, the Ondo State Governor has stated that the state remains free of banditry and terrorist cells.
While acknowledging that kidnapping remains a concern, he insisted that the nature of these crimes is different from the massacres seen in other parts of the country.
Reports of killings in rural communities are being treated as specific criminal acts rather than a broad invasion by bandits.
According to the Governor, bandits aim to displace people and kill for no reason, while the current "isolated" criminals are motivated by money (ransom).
State security forces are being empowered to track down these smaller criminal groups to prevent them from growing into larger threats.
By clarifying the type of threat, the government aims to provide a more accurate picture of safety for residents and investors in Ondo State.
