The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned Abuja residents to stay alert and avoid being tricked by politicians who only appear during election season.
Speaking during a "thank you" visit to the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Wike emphasized that leadership must be about keeping promises.
Wike told stakeholders that since they fulfilled their promise by voting for President Bola Tinubu’s supporters in the recent Area Council elections, the government must now fulfill its own side of the deal.
The Minister slammed politicians who disappear after winning. He insisted that "agreement is agreement" and that he would offer no excuses when it comes to meeting the residents' demands.
Wike noted that President Tinubu specifically wants an FCT Minister who interacts with the people on the ground, rather than one who stays hidden in a fancy office.
The visit was a follow-up to a previous meeting in Apo, where Wike promised to return and show appreciation if the community supported the administration’s candidates.
