Prominent Nigerian lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has sent shockwaves through the political landscape by claiming that the Peoples Democratic Party has become a mere "distraction."
In a viral social media video, Adeyanju argued that the party is effectively dead and that its members are secretly aligning with President Bola Tinubu to secure their own futures.
He suggested that instead of acting as a true opposition, PDP figures are simply competing for bargaining chips to use in negotiations with the current administration.
A major highlight of his claim involves Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. Adeyanju alleged that Makinde is positioning himself to eventually replace Nyesom Wike as the FCT Minister by the time the 2027 election cycle begins.
He described the current state of the party as a "caricature" where everyone is focused on how to make the President return for a second term.
While these political moves unfold, Adeyanju also urged the Federal Government to stop being lenient with criminals, insisting that the death penalty is the only suitable punishment for those involved in terrorism to properly address national insecurity.
