Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the recent bomb explosion that rocked Borno State, warning that Nigeria is slipping back into a dark era.

In a detailed statement, Atiku noted that the fresh wave of violence is reminiscent of the 2014 peak of the insurgency in Nigeria, where suicide bombers frequently targeted civilians.

While he commended the bravery of the Nigerian soldiers on the front lines, he slammed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration for failing to provide an effective approach to security.

Atiku claimed that the federal government seems more "obsessed" with silencing political rivals than addressing the growing security crisis

He argued that while the President is away on a United Kingdom trip, the military is struggling with poor equipment to fight off terrorists.

This lack of focus, he warned, could destroy public trust in the government’s ability to protect lives. According to Atiku, Nigerians are tired of empty condemnations and instead want to see improved security results and visible action to stop the killing of innocent families in Maiduguri.
