The football world is in shock following a controversial ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that has officially stripped Senegal of their AFCON title.
The decision, delivered by the CAF Appeal Board, overturned the results of the 2025 January final, awarding a 3-0 walkover victory to Morocco.
The ruling claims that the Senegal forward and his teammates forfeited the match by abandoning the pitch during a chaotic sequence of events.
Consequently, the original results were nullified, and Morocco was crowned the new African champions off the field.
Reacting to the news, Sadio Mané took to social media to voice his deep frustration, accusing the football authorities of allowing external factors to dictate the beautiful game.
The Al-Nassr star argued that the passion of millions of fans is being destroyed by administrative decisions that ignore the efforts of players on the pitch.
He described the situation as a sign of deep-seated corruption in sport, stating that this is not the version of Africa that athletes fight for.
While the Senegal Football Federation has already moved to appeal the case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the fallout has sparked a massive debate across the continent regarding the integrity of African football.
