The Benin Traditional Council has announced the suspension of a prominent palace chief and a queen following a major security lapse involving social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller

According to official reports, the influencer and his team entered the Oba of Benin’s palace without obtaining the necessary prior approval, an act described as a total disruption of the palace’s order.

This unauthorized entry has caused significant embarrassment to the throne, leading to immediate disciplinary action against those who aided the breach.

In addition to the chief's suspension, a staff member identified as Mr. Omuemu has been arrested for his role in the unauthorized entry

The council is also reviewing the status of the queen implicated in the scandal, who may face permanent removal from her position.

To prevent future incidents, the council has introduced a new system of official access passes and mandatory written applications for anyone wishing to visit.

The cultural and spiritual integrity of the palace remains a top priority, and the council has summoned Peller to appear for questioning and submit a written apology to avoid further legal consequences.
