Nollywood star Benedict Johnson recently moved a church audience to tears with the story of his five-year disappearance from the movie screens.
Speaking at a service in Abuja, the actor revealed that he went half a decade without a single call for a movie role.
Johnson explained that in the film industry, there are no "exit interviews." He simply stopped getting hired, and for five years, no producer or director reached out to him.
Despite friends warning him that Abuja isn't a "movie hub" like Lagos, he relocated to the capital city to focus on his spiritual life and attend prayer programs.
His fortunes changed drastically at the start of this year. Since January 2026, he has already worked on 12 different projects and has been invited to film in Germany and the United States.
Beyond his career, the actor shared that his daughter, who had been battling a very serious illness, has now seen a significant improvement in her health.
