A Federal High Court in Abuja has officially discharged and acquitted suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari and his two brothers.

The 23-count charge, filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), accused Kyari of failing to declare several high-value properties.

Justice James Omotosho ruled on March 5, 2026, that the prosecution failed to provide credible evidence linking Kyari to the properties in question.

The court noted that the NDLEA could not prove Kyari owned land in Fountain Estate, Abuja, or locations in Borno State. Kyari testified that the Borno property was part of his father's inheritance.

Kyari’s brothers, Mohammed and Ali, were also cleared of conspiracy charges, as the court found no proof they helped conceal assets.

The judge described the prosecution's case as weak and stated that a citizen who has served the country should not face "persecution" without solid evidence.
