Bandits have attacked Gwargwaba village in Zamfara State, killing four residents who refused to pay illegal levies.
The attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community on Thursday evening, setting houses and food stores ablaze, and burning livestock.
Security analyst Bakatsine reports the assault was a retaliation against the villagers' rejection of the bandits' demands.
The incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in Zamfara State, where residents are often targeted for resisting extortion.
