Bishop Matthew Kukah of Sokoto has sounded the alarm on Nigeria's escalating violence, describing it as unparalleled globally.

Speaking at the launch of "The Man They Could Not Stop," a book about Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Kukah lamented the country's polarization along religious lines, saying Nigeria's situation is unique in its scale and pattern of violence.

Kukah pointed out that daily killings have become routine, with reports often framing victims as Christians or Muslims, which he believes is fueled by Western media narratives

He urged leaders to prioritize unity and peace over sectarian divisions, emphasizing the need for institutions that promote national development.

Other speakers at the event echoed Kukah's sentiments, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who stressed the importance of competence and leadership qualities over party affiliation.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State encouraged Fintiri to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Governor Fintiri himself described the 2023 governorship election as a turbulent experience, accusing some political actors of betrayal and moral compromise.

He warned that these forces remain active, urging citizens to resist them with their votes ¹.
