The Nigeria Police (Zone 6 Command) has destroyed a major criminal network in Cross River State that specialized in fake job offers and human trafficking.
In a move that has earned them widespread praise, the officers involved reportedly turned down a massive ₦50 million bribe offered by the criminals to kill the case.
Over 100 victims were rescued during the early morning raid on February 14, 2026. These individuals have now been handed over to the state government for care.
The syndicate targeted young Nigerians desperate to move abroad. They tricked victims into selling their cars, land, and houses by promising them fake visas and high-paying foreign jobs.
To keep the scam going, the criminals rented nice apartments and forced victims to take photos there. These photos were posted online to trick the victims' families into thinking they had already reached Europe or America.
Despite being offered ₦50 million to stop the investigation, the police team led by AIG Auwal Musa Mohammad refused the money and arrested the key suspects.
