Ogun State is getting a day off! Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a public holiday to mark the state's 50th anniversary.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations will recognize the state's growth, achievements, and contributions to Nigeria's development.
Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, announced the holiday, inviting residents to join the festivities peacefully and reflect on the state's progress.
The celebrations will include activities to honour the past, celebrate current successes, and plan for a prosperous future.
Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976, making this a milestone worth celebrating. Residents are encouraged to participate and come together to mark the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Ogun State is dealing with a separate issue - a fresh attack on its personnel by suspected smugglers in Alapoti, Ado/Odo-Ota Local Government Area.
The incident occurred during a routine patrol, and the officers were ambushed while trying to seize smuggled goods.
