A bandit attack on Keware Village in Katsina State's Sabuwa Local Government Area has claimed the life of a vigilante.
The attack happened around 12:56 a.m. on Sunday, with heavily armed terrorists storming the village and fatally shooting 32-year-old Isiya Keware, a member of the Civilian Watch (Cwatch) vigilante group.
Security forces, including troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police, and Cwatch teams, quickly responded to the attack.
They engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to flee. The vigilante's body was taken to Sabuwa's General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A manhunt is underway to catch the attackers. Katsina State has been hit hard by banditry, with repeated attacks on rural communities despite ongoing peace talks with the terrorists.
