Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has welcomed São Tomé and Príncipe's President Carlos Vila Nova and his wife, Maria de Fátima Vila Nova, to his Abuja residence.
The visit follows President Vila Nova's attendance at the wedding fatiha of Matawalle's children at the National Mosque, Abuja, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During their meeting, Matawalle and President Vila Nova discussed strengthening cooperation between their countries, focusing on Nigeria's security, growth, and development. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
Matawalle described the visit as "particularly significant", especially given his family's celebration of his children's wedding. "I am honoured to host His Excellency... We had fruitful discussions, expected to yield positive results," he said.
The visit included gift exchanges, symbolizing mutual appreciation and diplomatic goodwill
