Abuja's Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of the Nigerian Senate in the case of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The three-member panel unanimously held that the Senate acted within its powers in suspending Uduaghan for misconduct.

The court dismissed Uduaghan's claims that her suspension breached parliamentary privilege or constitutional rights, citing insufficient evidence.

However, it set aside the ₦5 million fine imposed on her for a satirical apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Justice A.B. Muhammed's lead verdict noted that Akpabio was justified in denying Uduaghan the chance to speak during a plenary session, as she wasn't in her allocated seat.

The court emphasized that Senate rules dictate seat allocation and speaking arrangements.
