Karim Benzema is in talks to join Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal, with negotiations ongoing for the remainder of his contract with Al-Ittihad.
The France international has been unhappy with Al-Ittihad's contract extension offer, which he deemed "insulting" as it offered no base salary and remuneration almost entirely through image rights.
According to sources, Al-Hilal wants to sign Benzema for the remaining six months of his contract, but his agent is pushing for a one-and-a-half-year deal.
The 2022 Ballon d'Or winner has scored eight goals in 14 league games this season for Al-Ittihad, but the club is currently 12 points behind leaders Al-Hilal.
Benzema's absence from Al-Ittihad's last two league matches has sparked speculation about his future, with coach Sergio Conceicao declining to comment on the matter.
The player's move is complicated by the fact that both Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
Benzema joined Al-Ittihad in 2023 after 14 seasons with Real Madrid, scoring 21 goals in his debut season and helping the club win the league title.
