Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has officially confirmed that American soldiers are in the country.
He explained that their arrival was fully approved by the Federal Government to help Nigeria win the war against terrorism and banditry.
The U.S. forces are here to provide "technical support." This means they are sharing advanced technology.
The Minister confirmed that these soldiers have permission to work with Nigerian troops in parts of Bauchi State.
General Musa noted that since the crisis in Libya and the Sahel region, too many illegal weapons and criminals have entered Nigeria, making international support necessary.
He assured Nigerians that the U.S. is not here to take over. They are working under a strict agreement and will leave once their specific goals are met.
