Bimbo Akintola, a veteran Nollywood actress, has shed light on why she doesn't live a flashy life like some of her colleagues, attributing it to the harsh reality that acting alone doesn't bring the kind of money people think it does in Nigeria.
In a recent interview, Akintola explained that many people wrongly assume being a popular actress automatically leads to wealth.
She pointed out that payments from movie platforms like Africa Magic and similar outlets are insufficient to fund expensive lifestyles or luxury living.
Akintola emphasized that some entertainers have other income sources beyond acting, which the public often overlooks.
"When people ask me why I'm not rich like other actresses, I tell them to go and ask them what other jobs they do," she said.
Akintola noted that the public often misunderstands how money circulates in the entertainment industry, especially for actors relying mainly on film roles. "Acting alone cannot make many actresses rich, especially when you look at how little movie platforms pay," she added.
