A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Tunde Lemo, has officially confirmed that he wants to be the next Governor of Ogun State.
He made his intentions known on Wednesday during the APC ward congress in Abeokuta, ending months of rumors about his political future.
When asked about his plans for 2027, Lemo told reporters, "Yes, of course, I have my eyes on 2027," adding that he is leaving the final outcome in God's hands.
Lemo congratulated the APC for a peaceful ward congress. He credited the calm atmosphere to the "Renewed Hope" agenda of President Tinubu and the work of current Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The former bank chief said his goal is "raising the bar" in governance and ensuring that the people of Ogun State get the best possible leadership and service.
He expressed excitement at seeing large crowds of loyal party members, calling the peaceful turnout a sign that the APC is a strong and united family.
