A tragic accident occurred on the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road, claiming the lives of over 10 people who were on their way to attend the burial of Bayelsa State's late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
The 18-seater bus was involved in a fatal crash along the Toru-Orua axis of the road, with several others injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 60, after collapsing in his office at the Government House in Yenagoa.
His burial is scheduled for today, January 30, 2026, in his hometown of Ofoni, Sagbama Local Government Area
