Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation International, has shared his harrowing experience of being kidnapped in 2012 alongside his personal assistant.

Speaking at a press conference, he described the ordeal as life-threatening, saying he survived by divine intervention.

Okafor was abducted after a crusade in Awka, Anambra State. He was asleep in the vehicle when gunmen attacked, and he was taken with his assistant.

They were held captive for 58 days, with ransom paid, but their release delayed.

Okafor was eventually released and taken to hospital in a weakened state.

His assistant was released later after more ransom was paid. The ordeal disrupted church activities, but Okafor credits faith and perseverance for the ministry's recovery. "This ministry and church are testimonies of grace. I came face to face with death, but God preserved my life," he said
