The Paramount Ruler of Ancient Bangha Kingdom, King Suanu Baridam, was shot at in Rivers State, narrowly escaping assassination. The attack happened on Tekar Sogho Road in Khana, with gunmen emerging from the bush to open fire on his vehicle.
The monarch sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and is receiving medical treatment. This is the second attempt on his life, sparking anxiety among Ogoni leaders.
Police are on the hunt for the attackers, with teams deployed to comb the area. "We'll leave no stone unturned in ensuring the arrest and prosecution of those responsible," said Police PPRO Grace Iringe-Koko.
