The Nigerian military is set to arraign 16 officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu's government. The officers, who have been detained since October 2025, are facing charges under the Armed Forces Act.

The investigation found that some of the accused officers breached security at the Presidential Villa, conducting surveillance and identifying vulnerabilities.

The plot allegedly involved compromised staff at Julius Berger, the construction firm maintaining the Villa.

President Tinubu has expressed confidence in the military's handling of the case, and authorities are reviewing security protocols to prevent further breaches.

The officers will face trial before a military judicial panel, ensuring fairness and due process.
