The Palace of the Oba of Benin has distanced itself from the recent assault on media personality Don Pedro Obaseki, saying the attack wasn't authorised by the Oba. "The Oba of Benin is a peace-loving father to all," the Benin Traditional Council stated.

The council warned youths against taking the law into their own hands, urging respect for legal processes. They also advised social media users to verify information before posting to avoid spreading misinformation.

The Oba extended New Year wishes to the public, reaffirming his commitment to peace and unity.
