Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has openly admitted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains deeply unsettled by the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, at a recent Ramadan lecture, the Governor described the party’s defeat in its traditional stronghold as a painful and embarrassing experience.
He noted that the top leadership still carries a sense of shame over the disappointing results, which saw President Bola Tinubu lose his home state during the last general elections.
To ensure that such a "painful experience" is not repeated, the Governor urged party supporters to begin early preparations for the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that the only way to redeem the party's image is through total active participation and ensuring that every loyalist possesses a Permanent Voter Card (PVC).
By reflecting on the "last time" things went wrong, Sanwo-Olu is calling for a unified front to protect the second term prospects of the current federal administration, linking the nation's progress directly to the party's ability to secure a massive mandate in the next cycle.
