Tottenham Hotspur has been hit with a fine and a warning from UEFA after three fans were caught making Nazi salutes during a Champions League match in Germany.
The club acted quickly to punish the individuals involved, calling their actions "disgusting."
UEFA fined the club roughly £28,000 for the fans' discriminatory behavior and for objects thrown during the game. They also issued a "suspended ban" on away tickets, meaning if it happens again within a year, Spurs fans could be barred from traveling to European games.
Tottenham identified the three people responsible and has banned them from the stadium for life. The club stated that this behavior does not represent their values.
Similar problems are popping up elsewhere. Real Madrid is investigating a fan for the same offense, while Nottingham Forest’s recent game saw fans arrested for throwing flares and running onto the pitch.
In the Nottingham case, two men have already been charged and are due in court later this month to face penalties for the chaos during the match.
