President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially nominated Lamido Abubakar Yuguda to serve as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

The appointment, announced on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, comes as the President reshuffles his economic team to strengthen Nigeria’s financial stability.

Yuguda takes over from Mr. Bala Bello, who has moved to a new role as the President’s Special Adviser on Political Economy.

This isn't Yuguda's first time at the CBN; he actually started his career there in 1984 and rose to become a Director before retiring in 2016.

He has worked as an economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and most recently served as the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

He is a highly trained accountant with degrees from Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Birmingham, UK.
