The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, officially began the screening of Taiwo Oyedele for the position of Minister of State for Finance.

The move follows his nomination by President Bola Tinubu, who selected the renowned tax expert to help lead the nation's financial reforms.

Led by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, the chamber invited Oyedele to present his credentials and answer questions regarding Nigeria's economy.

Oyedele is set to replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who is moving to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

Before this nomination, Oyedele served as the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he worked on fixing Nigeria's complicated tax laws.

The 50-year-old expert is an alum of Harvard, Yale, and LSE, and he spent over 20 years as a top leader at the global firm PwC.
